Word-o-licious!

I am so glad that I went through the folder even though there weren't any assignments listed. One of the activities was 42 interesting ways to use Wordle and I found some great ways to use it for my English Language Arts class. I could use it as an anticipatory set when introducing a new book. I copy the first chapter into Wordle to creat a word picture and then I have the students evaluate it to see if they can guess what the book may be about. I can also use it to have them describe themselves. I can use it for a character description or analysis. I can have them compare two Wordle pictures to one another for compare contrast papers. I learned that the more times a word is typed, the bigger it will show on the Wordle picture. I can use it for vocabulary words. I can paste poetry into Wordle to use for idea prompts for another piece of poetry. To build a team I can have my students write their name on a piece of paper, then it gets passed around and each students writes one word to describe the other student, I print it off and they have a self-esteem builder to keep in their folders. I thought Wordle was neat, but didn't have many ideas on how to use it in my classroom. Now I have a ton. I know I will use this in my classroom now, and I am really excited to start implementing it into my lesson plans for class!
